Are Hair Extensions Damaging? ..

There are so many factors to consider when answering this question, if you're interested in getting hair extentions but worried about daminging your hair, here are the facts you need to know...

The number one cause of damage by hair extentions is caused during the removal process by untrained and inexperienced hair stylists. This is why it is important to research and find a reputable hair extention specialist or hair loss specialist. During the removal process, an alchohol based solution is applied on top of the bonds. A pair of hair pliers are used to break down the bonds at the area of attachment, then it is gently slid off the natural hair strand. If not removing diligently, the hair pliers can cut your natural hair. An experienced hair extension specialist will know to be extremely cautious during this process to maintain the integrity of your own natural hair. Along with giving you a full consultation, before and after photos from a professional portfolio should be shown.

*Quality of product* I can't stress enough how important it is for you as a client to know where your hair is coming from! The top hair extension companies I work with are Hairdreams, Greatlengths, USA,  and Dreamcatchers. These companies are known for having the best quality hair with pure keratin tips and no sheading. I have heard horror stories about stylist making there own keratin fusion tips (in front of their clients) with cheap hair to cut cost and make more of a profit. All this is going to lead to is sheading , damage from cheap keratin containing adhesives, and a terrible install.  Speaking as a professional who has been certified and trained through the reputable hair companies listed above, I can assure that you will be pleased with a reliably beautiful investment.

Lastly, extension bonds that are installed incorrectly can create what I like to call a "hot dread locked mess." Without  a uniformed application, bonds attached to the hair growing out from different areas of the scalp create can create immediate damage. Bonds should be attached in clean and precise sections. The sections are customized to the guests head, as everyone's hair growth is different.
